The shadows she saw on the lawn inspired her to work for months on the technique that, however, did not paint the object she chose onto canvas. It is more like the subject has been transformed into its own reproduction which is based its interpretation from the artist. This works best when working with living things or items that are perishable like fruits and people. Alexa's style of painting has an ephemeral quality, and all remaining of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Both photographic and painting techniques are so tightly coordinated and result in a flat, two dimensional space that achieves trompe l'oeil. The third dimension can only be seen in specific areas that are close to the eyes or hair. Meade has integrated her model paintings into the space of 3D that surrounds the models. The interaction between them and the created environment is conceivable. Through this, Meade is able to blur the lines between painting, photography and the performance.
