She's reported on sports at some of the most prestigious publications around the world. She worked for The Washington Post nearly a decade, covering Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as well playing basketball in multiple Olympics. Nichols spent nine years at ESPN and won the network two Emmy Awards. Her Monday Night Football coverage as a team reporter was one of the areas she worked at the network. Following her departure from ABC, her following destination was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded was a program that she produced and hosted, was telecast each day on CNN International. This show attracted over one billion viewers across all over the world. Nichols worked as a journalist at TNT at the time, in charge of NBA broadcasts, including regular season games, playoffs or teams from the All-Star league. In addition to reporting for TBS, she also covered broadcasts of golf and baseball as well as the Final Four on CBS. In the 42 year history of the award, it was the only time a woman had been in the list of 200+ nominees.
